  • The initiative aims to promote energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy in conservation areas.
  • The project will ensure sustainable energy for the research, education, wellness, and sports initiatives implemented by the UNACEM Association at the Santuario de Amancay of UNACEM.

Lima, 2024.- With the goal of fostering sustainable development and promoting energy efficiency, Celepsa, a company dedicated to the generation and commercialization of sustainable energy, has signed an agreement with the UNACEM Association for the implementation of an innovative solar photovoltaic self-generation project. This collaboration reflects both organizations' commitment to ecosystem conservation and their shared corporate sustainability goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.

The agreement, valued at over 67,000 dollars, will enable the installation of photovoltaic modules, commonly known as solar panels, at the Santuario del Amancay of UNACEM, the first private conservation area in Metropolitan Lima, dedicated to protecting the lomas ecosystem and promoting its sustainable use. This off-grid system, remotely monitored, will provide renewable energy for the implementation of the UNACEM Association’s projects, fostering social innovation and reducing the environmental footprint.

“The donation of solar panels reflects our commitment to the transition toward renewable energy and the conservation of unique natural spaces like the UNACEM Santuario de Amancay. This initiative strengthens a sustainable model that integrates research, education, and community well-being, promoting sustainable development. Additionally, it paves the way for future joint projects focused on clean energy and renewable technologies for the benefit of the community,” emphasized Renata Saettone, Deputy Business Development Manager at Celepsa.

The UNACEM Santuario de Amancay is a unique space that hosts a wide variety of endemic flora and fauna, making its conservation crucial for maintaining the ecological balance in the region. This area spans 787.82 hectares and covers the districts of Pachacámac and Lurín. The implementation of this solar energy system will ensure a clean and sustainable power supply, enabling the propagation of vulnerable species such as the Amancay flower through the upcoming installation of a modern greenhouse, among other research efforts aimed at restoring lomas ecosystems in other areas of Lima. Additionally, it will serve as an educational tool, demonstrating how technology can harmoniously integrate with conservation to more than 3,000 students who visit the Santuario de Amancay each year.

Finally, Irene Arellano, Executive Director of the UNACEM Association, highlighted the importance of strategic partnerships between the private sector and non-profit organizations to promote research and the use of eco-friendly technologies, enabling us to develop inclusive and innovative solutions to the social challenges affecting vulnerable populations and ecosystems. In this way, Celepsa and the UNACEM Association, both part of the UNACEM Group, are strengthening their position as leaders in initiatives that integrate technological innovation with environmental and social impact goals, demonstrating that sustainability can be a key driver for progress in the country.
