Celepsa received the National Environmental Award at COP20
Celepsa was won the 2014 National Environmental Award in the Biodiversity Management category for their Program for the sustainable development of the cryphiops caementarius shrimp resource in the Cañete River, as part of the 20th United Nations Convention on Climate Change COP20.
"This award is a two-sided coin: it is a recognition for those who have worked to assume good environmental practices and, on the other hand, it is a way to encourage the spectator or consumer of a product to highlight these outstanding performances," said Manuel Pulgar-Vidal, who presided over the ceremony.
The recognized program has achieved an increase in the population and biomass of the Cañete River shrimp resource, training and awareness of shrimp farmers, a control and surveillance subprogram, the strengthening of shrimp farming associations, and respect for the closed season over its years of development.
The Ministry of the Environment presents the National Environmental Award yearly in celebration of the environmental performance of individuals or legal entities that contribute to the better use of environmental potential or conservation, establishing a benchmark of leadership.
Celepsa accepts this honor with joy, but also with the duty to continue doing things correctly.
