Lima, December 17, 2021.- As part of the efforts to enhance the scope of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations to 2030, the National Society of Mining, Petroleum and Energy (SNMPE), seeks to promote good social and environmental practices of its associates through the Sustainable Development Awards 2021.
In this XVI edition, Celepsa has been awarded in the categories Environmental Management and Water Management for its commitment to integrated management of water resources and that, since 2009, promotes the conservation of key ecosystems in the Nor Yauyos Cochas Landscape Reserve (RPNYC) through the Patronage of the same name.
"At Celepsa, we are committed to making our operation compatible with the environment, as well as promoting the development of the communities within our sphere of influence. For us, our scope contemplates the entire Cañete River basin. That is why we seek to promote integrated management of the resource: conserving key ecosystems in the upper part of the basin, promoting responsible water regulation with our infrastructure, and fostering better practices in the communities". Lorena Gaviño, Celepsa's assistant manager for sustainability, commented.

Recall that the RPNYC is considered one of the most important sources of water in the Lima region, because it has 80% of the snow-capped mountains, 62% of the lagoons and 66% of its main wetlands. Therefore, Celepsa, committed to the sustainability of the country, promotes through the Board of Trustees the conservation of wetlands and grasslands, which provide, among others, the ecosystem services of water regulation and carbon sequestration.
"Social and environmental responsibility are the central axes of the corporate culture of companies in the mining and energy sector that, with their neighboring communities, join efforts to build a country with development and social peace," said the president of the National Society of Mining, Petroleum and Energy (SNMPE), Manuel Fumagalli Drago.
