Celepsa renews its Carbon Neutrality declaration with Aenor certification
According to a report by Global Carbon Project, carbon emissions will increase by 1% by the end of 2022, registering a world record of 40,600 million tons.
Celepsa, a leader in power generation in Peru, remains committed to the sustainability of the planet and is proud to announce that it has received the renewal of the Carbon Neutrality Certificate, awarded by the prestigious Spanish certifier Aenor.
In the face of the current climate crisis, Celepsa reaffirms its commitment to the fight against climate change and obtains for the second consecutive year the certification for having offset 100% of its carbon emissions.
"We are committed to being leaders in clean energy generation and reducing our environmental impact. This certification not only validates our efforts to mitigate and offset our carbon emissions, but also demonstrates our vision for the future and supports our responsibility to the planet," said Lorena Gaviño, Deputy Sustainability Manager of Celepsa, part of the UNACEM group.
The process to obtain the Carbon Neutrality Certificate involves a thorough review of the company's emissions management procedures, as well as an evaluation of its reduction initiatives and commitments. Celepsa and Celepsa Renovables have demonstrated their diligence in this process, ensuring that all administrative sites and the energy they market are 100% carbon neutral.
It is worth noting that Celepsa and Celepsa Renovables are pioneers in the Peruvian energy industry by becoming the first generating companies in the country to obtain carbon neutrality certification. This achievement highlights the company's leadership and vision in the transition to a low-carbon economy and its ongoing commitment to sustainability.
In addition, both organizations also received the Renewable Energy Certificate, which ratifies that the energy generated by the El Platanal and Marañón hydroelectric plants comes from renewable sources. These certificates further reinforce the company's commitment to producing clean energy and reducing its environmental impact.
These certifications demonstrate its leadership in the fight against climate change and serve as an inspiring example for other companies in the sector.
