Celepsa's project portfolio focuses on renewable energies
One of these projects is the construction of its first solar (photovoltaic) power plant in Arequipa, which would double the company's operations.
The Electric Company El Platanal (Celepsa) is concentrating its project portfolio in various parts of the country on the generation of renewable energies. According to information shared with Desde Adentro, the company will work on the development of several projects in 2022 to bring them to ready-to-build status.
"We can find energy from water, sun, and air in our portfolio, always emphasizing the renewable energy character," explained Nicolas Samardzich, Celepsa's Business Development Manager.
One of these projects is the construction of its first solar power plant (photovoltaic) in Arequipa, a proposal that is expected to cost US$ 280 million and will double the size of its operations.
Commitment to sustainable energy
The executive explained that today renewable energy does not have a different economic value from traditional energy, i.e., "it does not cost more or less". "It is an obligation demanded by developed markets, which are the ones who demand it the most," says the author.
Celepsa has actively pursued sustainability through clean energy because it considers it a non-negotiable issue.
"Peru has made a number of commitments to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. It is very likely that we will not be able to meet this goal unless businesses begin to take the lead. Our goal is to accelerate Peru's decarbonization," said Samardzich.
Regarding Celepsa
Peruvian company that generates high-quality sustainable energy and is ranked among the top ten power generators in the country. Our task is to manage water resources in a sustainable and responsible manner, contributing all of the energy potential of our installed capacity and that of our people to the National Interconnected Electrical System (SEIN).
Our most ambitious goal is to accelerate the country's decarbonization through the generation of sustainable energy required for development. As a result, AENOR certifies that 100% of the energy produced in Celepsa is of renewable origin in 2021.
