The holiday season has arrived, bringing with it the excitement of decorating our homes with bright and festive lights. However, it is crucial to remember the importance of doing so efficiently and safely to ensure joyful and hassle-free celebrations.

This year, Celepsa, a company specializing in the generation and marketing of clean energy, joins the mission to promote safety and efficiency in holiday decorations. In this regard, Juan Pablo Inga, Celepsa's Deputy Manager of Industrial Safety, offers four valuable tips to ensure that festive lighting is not only beautiful but also safe and efficient:

  1. Use LED lights: Opt for LED lights instead of traditional incandescent ones. LED lights consume less electrical energy and generate less heat, reducing the risk of overheating. This type of lighting has a much longer lifespan compared to traditional lights, meaning fewer replacements and less waste, which is beneficial for both the environment and your wallet.
  1. Check the quality of cables and plugs: Before connecting the lights, inspect the condition of extensions and plugs to replace any damaged cables and ensure that all of them are in very good condition, without cracks or dryness. Before installing the lights, make sure they are in optimal condition, and none are burned or show signs of burning, as this can represent a fire risk.
  1. Plan the electrical distribution: Before starting to decorate, calculate the total electrical load of the lights and ornaments you plan to use. Remember to place them away from flammable materials and secure the cables properly. Finally, we recommend not connecting too many ornaments to a single power outlet and using high-quality extension cords.
  1. Turn off the lights before going to bed: Never forget to turn off and unplug all Christmas lights and decorations before going to bed. One recommendation is to buy timers so they can automatically turn off. This not only saves energy but also reduces the risk of fires.

Celepsa is proud to collaborate in promoting electrical safety during the holiday season. We remind everyone that safety is fundamental for enjoying festivities full of joy and without mishaps. Merry Christmas and a Prosperous 2024!
